Father and Stepmother Arrested for 1989 Murder of 5-Year-Old Son

New Forensic Technology Leads to Breakthrough in Decades-Old Cold Case

Victor Lee Turner and Megan R. Turner, the father and stepmother of 5-year-old Justin Lee Turner, have been arrested and charged with his murder nearly 35 years after the crime.
Justin was reported missing in March 1989, and his body was found two days later in a camper on the family's property. He had been strangled and sexually assaulted.
Victor Turner was filmed finding his son's body in the camper, but investigators now believe he was responsible for the boy's death.
The case was reopened in 2021, and new forensic technology led to the couple's arrest. A ligature found in the Turner's home matched the wounds on Justin's neck, and fibers on the ligature were consistent with his shirt collar material.
Both Victor and Megan Turner allegedly expressed concern and devised a plan to withhold potential evidence from the beginning of the investigation.
