Father and Grandmother Make First Court Appearance in Lynwood Boy’s Cooler Death Case

Arraignments are set for late November following the defendants' initial court appearances.

Overview

  • Prosecutors have charged Destiny Luckie Harrison, Daniel Alberto Monzon and Ana Carcamo Zarceno with murder, torture and child abuse resulting in death, with bail set at $2 million each.
  • The boy, identified as Isaiah, died of injuries on Oct. 24, and deputies later found his body in a cooler filled with ice during a welfare check at a Lynwood apartment.
  • Monzon and Zarceno also face accessory-after-the-fact counts, and court records list their arraignment dates as Nov. 25 and Nov. 20, respectively.
  • Harrison made her first court appearance on Friday, and three other children from the home were placed in protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Officials say the investigation remains active and, if convicted as charged, each defendant faces 32 years to life in state prison.
