Overview
- A 76-year-old woman from Llanes died after a head-on collision with a coach at kilometer 292 of the A-8 near the Llanes–Ribadedeva boundary.
- Guardia Civil reports she traveled about one kilometer in the wrong direction after entering the opposite carriageway toward Oviedo.
- The coach was transporting 45 students from a Pola de Lena school returning from a sports competition, and SAMU treated a monitor and three minors for contusions.
- Traffic between kilometers 291 and 294 was diverted to the N-634 and the Santiuste tunnel was closed as Guardia Civil units, UNIS investigators and SEPA firefighters responded and carried out an extrication.
- The inquiry remains open with a possible mistaken exit at the Pendueles roundabout under consideration.
