Fatal Stabbing at Philadelphia Macy's: Security Guard Killed, Another Injured

Suspect apprehended after fleeing scene; store temporarily closed following incident.

A 30-year-old security guard was fatally stabbed and a 23-year-old guard was injured at a Macy's store in Philadelphia after they confronted a man attempting to steal hats.
The suspect initially left the store after the stolen items were retrieved, but returned about 10 minutes later and attacked the guards.
The suspect fled the scene using public transportation but was later apprehended by Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority police.
The Macy's store, located in a high-traffic area with high rates of homelessness, has faced some of the highest rates of retail theft in the city.
Following the incident, Macy's announced that the store will remain closed until further notice.
