Fatal Shootings Shut Down Multiple Chicago Expressway Ramps
Illinois State Police are investigating two separate incidents that left two dead and one wounded early Wednesday morning.
- Northbound I-55 ramp and Stony Island ramp to I-94 were closed for hours following the shootings.
- The first incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. on the northbound I-55 ramp near Halsted Street, resulting in one death.
- The second shooting happened about 10 minutes later on the Stony Island ramp, involving a tow truck driver and leaving one dead and another injured.
- All lanes were reopened by 8:30 a.m. on the Stony Island ramp, while inbound Stevenson Expressway lanes remained closed at the Dan Ryan Expressway.
- Illinois State Police are conducting ongoing investigations into both incidents.
