Overview

  • The crash occurred at approximately 10:48 a.m. Monday at kilometre 77 of the A-54 between Santiago de Compostela and Arzúa when a van rear-ended a car.
  • A 66-year-old Argentine woman travelling in the car’s rear left seat died despite wearing a seatbelt.
  • Five others were injured, with one seriously hurt and airlifted by the Helicopter H3 to a Santiago de Compostela hospital.
  • Firefighters from Bomberos de Arzúa, Guardia Civil traffic officers and teams from Urxencias Sanitarias attended to the victims on site.
  • Investigators are probing the cause of the collision after tests on both drivers returned negative for alcohol and drugs.
