Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes I-680 Lanes in East Bay

A collision near Rudgear Road resulted in one death and major traffic disruptions during the morning commute.

California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 6 a.m. on northbound I-680.
The incident led to the closure of four northbound lanes and one southbound lane.
One person was confirmed dead, though their identity has not been released.
By 7:40 a.m., two right-hand lanes on the northbound side were reopened.
Motorists were advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes.
