Fatal Midair Collision at Portugal's Beja Air Show

A Spanish pilot from the aerobatic team Yakstars died after two Yak-52 planes collided during a performance, leading to the event's cancellation.

The collision occurred at 4:05 p.m. local time during an aerial demonstration involving six aircraft.
One pilot, identified as Manuel Rey Cordeiro, died in the crash; the other pilot sustained minor injuries.
The Yakstars team, consisting of Spanish and Portuguese pilots, was performing at Portugal's largest air festival.
Emergency services responded immediately, and the rest of the air show was canceled.
Investigations into the cause of the collision are underway by the Portuguese Air Force and the Office for the Prevention and Investigation of Aircraft and Railway Accidents.
