Fatal Collision on A422 Leads to Arrest and Witness Appeal

West Mercia Police have released a suspect under investigation, seeking witnesses to help establish how the crash unfolded on Alcester Road.

Overview

  • The collision between a van and a lorry occurred at around 4.55pm on July 30 on the A422 Alcester Road at Flyford Flavell near Kington.
  • Emergency crews including two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a community first responder and the Midlands Air Ambulance worked to free and treat the van driver, a man in his 30s, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.
  • The A422 was closed for approximately eight hours and reopened at about 2am on July 31, with the HGV driver confirmed uninjured.
  • Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes of West Mercia Police’s serious collision investigation unit is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles in the moments before the crash to get in touch.
