Fastweb Finalizes Vodafone Italia Merger to Create Fastweb S.p.A.
The move ushers in a multi-year investment push to expand 5G, fiber plus digital services.

- Effective January 1, 2026, Fastweb and Vodafone Italia now operate as a single company under the name Fastweb S.p.A.
- Shareholders approved the deal, which the companies describe as the most significant telecom consolidation in Italy in recent years.
- The combined footprint includes about 20 million mobile lines and 5.8 million fixed lines, more than 20,000 mobile sites covering roughly 87% of the population in 5G, and a proprietary fixed network over 74,000 kilometers with 54% FTTH.
- Customer-facing brands Fastweb, Vodafone and ho. continue in the market, the corporate identity is Fastweb + Vodafone, and no immediate tariff changes are planned.
- Swisscom, Fastweb’s parent, acquired Vodafone Italia for €8 billion on a cash-and-debt-free basis in 2025, and Walter Renna remains CEO of the combined group.
