Fastway Owner Nuvion Group Enters Receivership, Delivery Delays Expected

Ireland’s consumer watchdog says retailers, not couriers, carry responsibility for orders in transit.

Overview

  • The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission reminded shoppers that their contract is with the retailer, who must resolve delays or non‑delivery, with a right to cancel and receive a full refund if delivery cannot be arranged in a suitable period.
  • Mark Degnan and Brendan O’Reilly of Interpath Advisory have been appointed as receivers to the Nuvion Group.
  • Around 300 direct jobs are at risk, and staff were notified on Tuesday evening.
  • Nuvion, which includes Fastway Couriers Ireland, Parcel Connect and Nügo, says sustained inflation, rising operating costs and pricing pressure have made the business unviable.
  • Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary said income supports and job‑seeking assistance are available to affected workers, including the pay‑related jobseeker’s benefit of up to €450 per week.
