Fasting Farmer Leader Takes Medical Aid as Centre Schedules February Talks

Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), has been on a hunger strike since November 26, demanding a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) and other farmer-related issues.
The Centre has scheduled a meeting with protesting farmers on February 14 in Chandigarh, following months of stalled dialogue.
Dallewal agreed to take medical aid, including intravenous fluids, after his health critically deteriorated, but he will continue his fast until demands are resolved.
A group of 121 farmers who joined Dallewal in solidarity ended their fast after his decision to accept medical treatment.
Farmer organizations plan to intensify their protests, including a tractor rally on January 26, while urging the government to expedite the scheduled talks.
