Fast & Furious 9 Producers Fined £800,000 Over Stuntman's Severe Injury

Joe Watts, a stuntman working on the Fast & Furious 9 film, suffered brain damage and a broken skull after falling 25ft head-first onto concrete during a fight scene.
The incident occurred at Warner Brothers' studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, in July 2019.
FF9 Pictures, a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, was fined £800,000 for health and safety failings.
The court heard that the safety line, which had worked during the first take, detached from Watts' vest on the second take, causing him to miss the crash mats.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) criticized FF9 Pictures for not having a system for double-checking that the safety line had been properly engaged and tightened.
