Farmhand and Son Jailed in Quadruple Killing in São Paulo as Police Plan Search for Ex-Wife's Remains

Both men remain in preventive custody following confessions that led police to graves on the rural property.

Overview

  • Leonardo Gonçalves told police he killed Sabrina de Almeida Lima with a machete during a fight, and his father, Milton Gonçalves Filho, used a sledgehammer to kill her three children when they tried to intervene.
  • Milton led investigators to the burial sites where the bodies of Sabrina and the boys, aged 10, 8 and 6, were recovered on land near the family’s home in Jaboticabal.
  • Police seized a sledgehammer, a machete and a shovel, and say the suspects cut power to disable cameras, wrapped the victims in silage sacks and buried them in shallow graves.
  • A custody hearing converted their arrests into preventive detention as forensic work and the criminal investigation continue.
  • Authorities scheduled a new excavation after Milton said he also buried his ex-wife on the farm, and both suspects reported involvement in her killing.
