• Praveen Kumar, 39, was attacked late Thursday in Baselwa Colony after closing his paneer shop and stopping at a nearby grocery store.
• An emergency response vehicle team witnessed the scuffle, moved to intervene, and then rushed Kumar to a Sector 19 hospital where he was declared dead.
• Raja, 27, was detained on the spot and is listed as a local “bad character” with about a dozen prior cases and a recent jail release in May.
• Investigators say the confrontation began when Kumar’s motorcycle brushed Raja, after which an associate brought in a person carrying a knife.
• CCTV footage of the incident is with police, an FIR under BNS sections for murder, voluntarily causing hurt and common intention was registered on the father’s complaint, a post-mortem was completed, and searches are underway for other suspects.
