Fan’s ‘MTV Rewind’ Revives 24/7 Music-Video Channels Online

A fan-built, unaffiliated site rebuilds MTV’s music-video experience using YouTube with IMVDb metadata.

Overview

  • The web app streams curated, continuous channels modeled on classic formats such as 120 Minutes, Yo! MTV Raps, Headbangers Ball and MTV Unplugged.
  • More than 33,000 videos spanning the 1970s–2020s are available, with decade-focused feeds plus a “shuffle all” option.
  • Users get simple playback controls for skip, fast forward and rewind, with occasional era-appropriate promos instead of modern ads.
  • Founder FlexasaurusRex says it was coded in 48 hours as a free, no-ads, no-algorithm tribute following the Dec. 31, 2025 shutdown of MTV’s remaining music-only channels in several countries.
  • The site’s disclaimer states it is independent of MTV and Paramount and pulls videos from YouTube, and outlets note the unlicensed use of the MTV name has raised legal questions as Paramount has not commented.
