In support of the 'curse', it's noted that the Astros were 0-4 with Cruz in attendance during this postseason before losing the decisive Game 7 while Cruz was at the game.
Other Texas sports defeats coinciding with Cruz's presence include Baylor football's home opener loss to Texas State, Texas A&M's loss to Alabama, and the Rockets losing a game where they missed 27 three-pointers.
However, before the Astros Championship Series, Cruz had a record of attending 18 win games compared to 11 losses across various sporting events, including important victories like the deciding games of the Astros Championship Series in 2019 and 2022.
Cruz himself denies the existence of the 'sports curse', highlighting his presence at past victories and asking that if he receives blame for losses, he should also receive credit for wins.
