Fan Restores P.T. Demo to PC With Native Fox Engine Port

The release lets players run original PS4 P.T. files on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck without bundling Konami’s game data.

Overview

  • Developer LoreanXavier published a native PC port reaching version 1.0/1.0.1 on Wednesday that is free, open-source under the MIT license and requires users to supply dumped PS4 P.T. files to run the game.
  • The project reconstructs Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine in C++ with a custom Vulkan renderer so original levels, models, textures, audio and Lua scripts load at runtime rather than being re-created in another engine or emulated.
  • The port adds modern PC features including NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and DLSS Frame Generation, AMD FSR and frame generation, Intel XeSS, optional ray-traced shadows/occlusion/reflections, and image-quality controls.
  • Early hands-on testing found strong performance on modest hardware with 100+ FPS at 1080p and frame-generation boosts exceeding 200 FPS on a tested Intel i7-12700H/RTX 4060 laptop, and reviewers reported successful runs on Steam Deck.
  • By shipping no Konami data and leaving legal ownership of game files to users, the release advances preservation and modding access while also creating a legally sensitive situation that so far has not prompted reported enforcement action.
