Fan-Made Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake Features Widescreen Support and Full Map View

The free game, currently available on itch.io, allows players to zoom out and view the entire game map, but may face legal issues due to copyright infringement.

  • An anonymous Nintendo fan has created a widescreen Windows remake of the Game Boy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which allows players to zoom out to view the entire Koholint Island.
  • The game, titled Link’s Awakening DX HD, supports high frame rates and eliminates the original's screen transitions for a fluid camera pan.
  • The game's zoom level can be adjusted to a 1:1, half or one-third pixel scale, allowing players to view as much as the entire island simultaneously, with each visible section fully activated and populated with enemies.
  • The game is currently available for free on itch.io, but it is expected to be taken down soon due to Nintendo's history of shutting down copyright-infringing fan games.
  • The fan-made game remains faithful to the original's gameplay and content, but offers a different experience with its high frame rate and widescreen support.
