Family Seeks New Interview of Acquaintance in Missing Rutgers Senior Case

Relatives are pushing the request after the acquaintance’s separate knife case was postponed in court.

Overview

  • Mortimer Wortman IV, 22, was last seen on Nov. 21 on surveillance video entering a vehicle with an acquaintance in the Regional Day School parking lot in Jackson, New Jersey, where his car was later found.
  • The family says the same man previously threatened Wortman with a knife in July and is the person who reported him missing the next day.
  • News 12 New Jersey identified the acquaintance as Adam Zalouk, whose hearing on the alleged summer incident was postponed without explanation.
  • Relatives are conducting daily searches across roughly 1,200 wooded acres near where Wortman was last seen and say they remain hopeful he is alive.
  • Police have classified Wortman as endangered, Rutgers says it is working closely with investigators and seeking tips, and no one has been charged or named a suspect in his disappearance.
