Family-Run Car Theft Syndicate Dismantled in Delhi

Detectives used CCTV footage to uncover a parkside theft pattern, prompting investigators to probe illegal receivers in Meerut.

  • Three relatives—father Raman (56), son Sagar (31), and son-in-law Neeraj (29)—were arrested after a tip-off on May 28 following the interception of a stolen car in Uttam Nagar.
  • The gang confessed to stealing between 20 and 25 high-end vehicles, including Maruti Brezza, Swift Dzire, Hyundai Creta and Toyota Fortuner models, over the past ten months.
  • Members used OBD tampering and a toolkit of car scanners, ECM devices and duplicate keys to disable security systems and steal vehicles in under seven minutes.
  • Police traced the thefts through footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras and found the trio often used one stolen car to trail another to evade detection.
  • Authorities have recovered multiple stolen vehicles and are continuing inquiries to identify and arrest illegal receivers in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
