Family Plans Motherwell Walk of Hope as Dad With Glioblastoma Starts Six-Month Chemo

The 47-year-old has moved from radiotherapy to chemotherapy tablets following a poor prognosis.

  • Jamie Jennings, 47, first noticed watery eyes, fatigue and a runny nose in May, symptoms he thought were hay fever before confusion prompted urgent scans.
  • CT and MRI at St John’s Hospital in Livingston showed a brain lesion, and specialists at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh diagnosed glioblastoma.
  • Doctors told the family he might have three to six months without treatment and potentially one to two years with treatment.
  • He completed a six-week course of radiotherapy with oral chemotherapy in July and has transitioned to a six-month regimen of chemotherapy tablets.
  • His wife Sharon and son Kai plan to take part in the Motherwell Walk of Hope on September 27 to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
