Overview
- The Clark County coroner identified the victim as Haylee Ryan after she was struck on Oct. 6 and died the next day, police said.
- Police said the girl was riding a BMX-style bicycle on West Tropical Parkway when she collided with a 2019 Thomas Built school bus and was projected onto a parked 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe.
- About 55 students were on the bus and none were injured, and both the bus driver and the SUV’s driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
- A GoFundMe launched by supporters identified Haylee and had raised more than $46,000 by Wednesday to help with funeral expenses and family support.
- School district officials reported 84 students have been struck traveling to or from school since Aug. 11, nearly double last year’s pace, and noted this was the second middle schooler to die in a local crash within a week.
