Overview

• Police identified the attacker as 35-year-old Jihad al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent who was not on Prevent or security service records.
• The assault occurred on Yom Kippur outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation, where the attacker rammed a car, wore a fake explosives belt, and stabbed worshippers before being shot dead by armed officers.
• Greater Manchester Police said one of the two people who died, named as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, appears to have been fatally wounded by police gunfire, and another injured victim also suffered a gunshot wound.
