Families Sue H-E-B and Trucking Firms Over Texas Panhandle Crash That Killed Four

The case centers on alleged driver negligence with plaintiffs pushing to secure electronic evidence before it is lost.

Overview

  • Relatives of four women killed on Nov. 5, 2025 filed a wrongful-death suit on Dec. 23 in Bexar County against H-E-B, Parkway Transport Inc., Scrappy Trucking LLC and driver Guadalupe Daniel Villarreal.
  • Court filings say the victims’ car had a flat tire with hazard lights on along U.S. 87 near Dalhart when an 18-wheeler slammed into it, a sequence also shown in newly shared video.
  • The suit alleges Villarreal was speeding, failed to control his vehicle and may have been distracted, and that he was hauling a load of potatoes for H-E-B through a contractor.
  • Plaintiffs seek a temporary restraining order and injunction to preserve the truck, dashcam footage and the driver’s mobile devices after earlier preservation letters sent Nov. 17 allegedly went unanswered.
  • H-E-B said the driver worked for a third-party vendor and that it and the contractor are cooperating with investigators; DPS has not filed charges as the crash is being reviewed for possible criminally negligent homicide.
