Overview
- The crashes unfolded just after 12 a.m. Wednesday on I-57 south of 120th Street in the Calumet Park and Calumet City area.
- State police say an initial three-vehicle collision was followed by a separate vehicle striking people who had exited one of the cars.
- Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene and at least five others were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries; all lanes reopened around 7:50 a.m.
- Relatives identified the men who died as Daekwon Cunningham, Martese Williams, and Ruben Lujano, and held a memorial balloon release.
