Falling Cement Mixer Trolley Kills 26-Year-Old Worker at Mumbai's Bhendi Bazar Site

Police move to convert the case to an FIR against subcontractors on suspected negligence.

  • The victim was identified as Danish Arif Khan, 26, who was working at the Bhendi Bazar cluster redevelopment site on SVP Road near Mirza Ghalib Market.
  • Police said the incident occurred around 7 pm Wednesday and Khan was taken to J. J. Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead at 8 pm.
  • Investigators have sent the body for postmortem, recorded statements from workers and supervisors, and registered an accidental death report.
  • According to the station house officer, a link on the trolley lift allegedly broke and the trolley crashed onto Khan as he waited at ground level.
  • The site is part of the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust project, whose representatives did not respond to requests for comment as the inquiry continues.
