Overview
- A midweek cold front flipped the Great Lakes and much of the Northeast to fall-like weather with widespread rain, gusts near 25 mph, and temperatures dropping into the 60s.
- Lake Michigan shorelines faced Beach Hazards Statements with waves up to about 6 feet, and cooler, less humid air followed the frontal passage.
- Ontario saw rain spread from Lake Huron into the GTA on Thursday, with heavier totals in the north (roughly 50–75 mm) and lighter amounts south (about 10–20 mm) as highs trend to the mid–high teens Celsius by the weekend.
- A stronger front is expected Saturday with showers and thunderstorms across New England and Maine, with the most soaking rain focused on northern and western areas and a chance of isolated severe storms.
- Ahead of the rain, southerly winds will make Friday breezy and humid and raise fire danger in parts of Maine, and a separate tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic has a high chance of developing into Tropical Depression Gabrielle in the coming days.
