Overview
- At the start of OTAs on Tuesday, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Michael Penix Jr. will work only in individual periods and 7-on-7 as he continues ACL rehab.
- Stefanski said first-team reps in non-team drills will rotate by design between Penix and Tua Tagovailoa in almost every period.
- The next benchmark is mandatory minicamp from June 16 to 18, when the staff will determine if Penix can join full 11-on-11 work.
- Atlanta signed Tagovailoa this offseason after his Miami release to compete for the starting job and to give the room an experienced option during Penix’s recovery.
- Penix has 12 NFL starts and finished 2025 with 1,982 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions, so a fuller head-to-head evaluation is expected at training camp.
