Falcons Interview Jets Interim Coach Jeff Ulbrich for Defensive Coordinator Role

Atlanta considers Ulbrich, a former Falcons assistant, as they seek to revamp their defense after a disappointing season.

Jeff Ulbrich, interim head coach and defensive coordinator for the Jets, interviewed virtually with the Falcons for their open defensive coordinator position on Wednesday.
Ulbrich previously spent six seasons with the Falcons (2015-2020) in various defensive coaching roles, including interim defensive coordinator in 2020.
The Falcons are restructuring their defensive staff after firing defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake and defensive line coach Jay Rodgers following their 8-9 season.
Atlanta's defense ranked 23rd in points allowed (24.9 per game) and total yards allowed (345.2 per game) during the 2024 season.
Ulbrich also interviewed for the Jets' head coaching position earlier this week as New York continues its search for a permanent leader after firing Robert Saleh.
