Fairhaven Man Sentenced to 26 Years for Child Sex Assaults Involving His Wife

Prosecutors said his guilty plea spares the minors from testifying.

Overview

  • Fall River Superior Court Justice Thomas Perrino on Sept. 23 sentenced 38-year-old Shayne Medeiros to 26 years in state prison followed by 10 years of supervised probation.
  • Medeiros pleaded guilty to charges that include aggravated rape of a child, assault with intent to rape a child, indecent assault and battery, unnatural acts with a child, dissemination of harmful material to minors, and supplying alcohol or marijuana to children.
  • Investigators said he and his wife assaulted multiple girls, including repeated rapes of his daughter between ages 11 and 13 in Fairhaven and New Bedford.
  • Police detailed a pattern in which minors were given alcohol and marijuana, a 2019 incident in which a babysitter was assaulted, and a separate case where a 16-year-old was sent to his home by Uber.
  • Leslie Medeiros has pleaded guilty, agreed to testify for the state, and is scheduled to be sentenced in November in Bristol County Superior Court.
