Overview

  • The helpline is toll-free, confidential, and operates roughly 20 hours daily, seven days a week, with support in multiple Indian languages.
  • More than 50 psychiatrists have volunteered to staff the service, with a published shift roster and direct mobile numbers for callers.
  • The initiative was conceptualised by Dr. Sajal Bansal and launched under FAIMA leaders Dr. Akshay Dongardive and Dr. Manish Jangra, with regional coordinators in multiple states.
  • Coverage extends to resident doctors, MBBS students, professors, association members, and practicing clinicians, and callers from the public will receive guidance if they reach out.
  • FAIMA says the effort responds to rising burnout and suicides among medicos and functions as a civil-society support line rather than a government program.
