Failed GOP Candidate Faces Charges for Election Interference Shooting Spree Targeting Democratic Officials

Solomon Peña, who lost a bid for the New Mexico House of Representatives, organized drive-by shootings at the homes of four Democratic officials who certified his election loss.
Peña visited officials before the election and falsely claimed the election was rigged, then obtained vehicles and firearms to carry out the shootings with help from accomplices.
The shootings targeted the state House speaker, county commissioners and a state senator, and bullets hit a 10-year-old girl's bedroom.
Peña faces federal charges including election interference and could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
The shootings came amid threats against election officials nationwide fueled by false claims of voter fraud from former President Trump and his allies.
