Fadnavis Conferred Honorary D.Litt. at AIHER Convocation

The ceremony signals a shift toward research-led education with planned expansion of hospital clinical research capacity under UN SDG-aligned centres of excellence.

Overview

  • On Saturday the Adani Institute of Higher Education and Research held its 17th convocation, the first since the university was renamed, and conferred an honorary Doctor of Letters on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
  • The university awarded 2,320 degrees across 10 faculties, including 123 Ph.D. degrees, and presented 123 gold medals, seven silver medals and 13 other prizes to 83 awardees.
  • In his address Fadnavis urged universities to prioritise emerging technologies — artificial intelligence, semiconductors and quantum computing — and called for focused medical research on cancer and diabetes alongside empathetic patient care.
  • Chancellor Dr Priti Adani announced a two-year plan to upgrade hospital equipment, build advanced clinical research facilities and set up UN Sustainable Development Goal–aligned centres of excellence with expanded super-specialty services at Wardha and Nagpur.
  • The convocation highlighted institutional growth from a single medical college to a multidisciplinary university of more than 14,000 students with an A++ NAAC grade, and showcased strong female achievement with nearly 80 percent of medals going to women.
