Facebook Removes 'Mia Moglie' Group as Police Probe and Copycats Surface

Investigators are collecting evidence from the 31,000-member community after its removal.

Overview

  • Meta removed the public group for violating its sexual‑exploitation policies following a surge of user reports.
  • The community, active since 2019, had roughly 31–32 thousand members sharing images of women presented as unaware for sexualized commentary, including stolen, AI-generated and amateur photos.
  • Activists Carolina Capria and the account No Justice No Peace publicized the group and filed reports to Meta and the Polizia Postale.
  • Rome’s Polizia Postale blocked the page and is gathering member data, screenshots and victim complaints, with vice director Barbara Strappato describing the comments as exceptionally disturbing.
  • New private groups and Telegram channels have already appeared, even as Italian law (art. 612‑ter) makes non‑consensual dissemination punishable by one to six years in prison plus fines.
