Overview

  • The FAA listed the hold from roughly 3:25 to 4:45 p.m. Pacific, according to agency advisories.
  • Arrivals from nearby-state airports such as Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque were paused as a precaution.
  • Similar temporary holds at Long Beach and John Wayne airports were posted as expiring at 4 p.m.
  • Severe thunderstorm warnings covered parts of Riverside and northern Los Angeles counties, with a flash flood warning in the Twentynine Palms area.
  • FAA planning data showed a medium 30%–60% chance the window could be extended, and officials had not yet said how many flights were affected.
