  • On July 30 at about 10:45 a.m. local time, a Lancair IV-P spiraled down and crashed behind a gas station in Greenwood, Indiana, killing the sole occupant.
  • The Johnson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 44-year-old Anh-Thu Nguyen, a Vietnamese-born Boeing 767 pilot and chief flight instructor based in Miami.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched a joint investigation into the accident to pinpoint its cause.
  • Her nonprofit Asian Women in Aerospace & Aviation and Dragon Flight Training Academy issued tributes to Nguyen and confirmed that no further flight attempts are planned.
