FA Cup Third Round Draw: Arsenal to Host Liverpool, Sunderland Faces Newcastle
Premier League giants meet for the first time in the competition since 2014, while north east rivals clash for the first time since 2015-16 season.
- Arsenal will host Liverpool in a blockbuster third-round FA Cup tie next month. This will be the first time the Premier League giants are meeting in the competition since Arsenal won a fifth-round tie 2-1 in 2014.
- Championship club Sunderland are paired with their neighbours Newcastle, who will travel to the Stadium of Light over the weekend of 6-7 January. This will be the first meeting between the north east giants since they were both in the Premier League in 2015-16.
- Manchester City, the FA Cup holders, were handed a home tie against the Championship strugglers Huddersfield, while Manchester United will make the short trip to the 2013 winners Wigan.
- Non-league Maidstone United, the lowest-ranked team guaranteed a place in the third round, are at home to either Stevenage or Port Vale.
- The FA Cup third round is scheduled to take place between Jan. 5-8.
