F1 Announces Six Sprint Races for 2024 Including Debut of China and Miami

Despite criticism from drivers like Max Verstappen, F1 maintains sprints have boosted viewing figures and fan engagement.

Formula One has announced six races which will stage sprints in the 2024 season: China, Miami, Austria, the Circuit of the Americas, Brazil, and Qatar.
China and Miami are making their debuts, replacing Azerbaijan and Spa from this year’s sprint line-up.
The format of the sprint races is still being decided, with the possibility of reverse grids still on the table.
Despite criticism from some fans and drivers, including triple world champion Max Verstappen, Formula One claims the sprint races have been a success, with increased viewing figures year on year.
It is expected that the sport will return to having sprint qualifying on a Friday followed by a sprint on Saturday as well as the main qualifying session for the grand prix.
