Overview
- Marta Garcia, the inaugural F1 Academy champion, has secured a fully funded seat in the 2024 Formula Renault Eurocup, thanks to financial backing from F1 Academy, car manufacturer Tatuus, Prema Racing team, and F1 tyre supplier Pirelli.
- The drive is seen as a significant step up, as the Formula Renault Eurocup series operates as a stepping stone between the Formula 4 and Formula 3 series.
- As part of Prema Racing, Garcia will compete against up-and-coming male drivers. Prema Racing has a successful track record in motor racing, with previous champions in various categories including Charles Leclerc, Mick Schumacher, Lance Stroll, and Esteban Ocon.
- From 2024, the FRECA series will allow teams to run a fourth car if they sign a driver who finishes first, second or third in the F1 Academy standings.
- For its second season in 2024, the F1 Academy series has reduced the amount of money a driver has to invest from 150,000 to 100,000 euros in a bid to attract young talent.
