Overview
- Operations at Ezeiza began limited service on Sunday, October 25, with the usable runway cut from 3,300 metres to 1,850 metres through November 11 and the airport using only one runway for 18 days.
- Fourteen international airlines have announced temporary suspensions of direct flights to and from Ezeiza, with carriers contacting affected passengers about refunds, rebooking or alternative routings.
- Several airlines that will keep some services have published specific changes such as Aerolíneas Argentinas adding a Rio de Janeiro stop, Iberia and Air Europa adding Montevideo stops, and LATAM suspending Buenos Aires–Miami.
- The short runway most sharply limits widebody long‑haul jets because they need more takeoff distance when fully fueled, so airlines are choosing technical refueling stops or reduced frequencies to meet safety and fuel requirements.
- The work is part of a US$110 million upgrade by Aeropuertos Argentina and Orsna that includes new lighting, repaving the Alfa taxiway and building a new ramp platform to boost safety and capacity after the November 11 completion date.
