Overview

  • The implosion took place at 6:30 a.m. on June 21, prompting road closures around the site until the process wrapped up by about 7:30 a.m.
  • Debbie Himsel and her husband pressed the implosion button after winning the Rotary Club of Baytown auction to trigger the demolition.
  • Known as the “White House,” the 10-story structure had housed ExxonMobil’s main office since 1971 and hosted community events for over five decades.
  • Vacated in late 2024, the building was removed to support ExxonMobil’s strategy for modernized workspaces and improved collaboration among relocated staff.
  • ExxonMobil has not announced redevelopment plans for the cleared site and will post a video of Saturday’s implosion online for public viewing.
