Overview

• Retirement pensions in Extremadura averaged €1,275.3 in August, €232 below the national mean of €1,507.55.
• The region’s system-wide average pension was €1,110.02, up 5.10% year over year and the lowest among Spain’s autonomous communities.
• Extremadura counted 244,852 pensions in payment, including 143,410 retirement pensions, representing 2.36% of the national total.
• Nationally, Social Security paid a record €13,620.8 million in contributory pensions in August, up 6.2% year over year after the 2025 revaluation, with €9,954.9 million going to retirement benefits.
• Spain paid 10,374,297 pensions to more than 9.38 million people, as the average system pension reached €1,312.9 and the average retirement pension stood at €1,507.55.
