Overview

  • Jasmine Black, 48, of Locust Grove, Georgia, was killed on June 21 when her parachute collided with another jumper’s gear during descent at Skydive Atlanta.
  • The collision occurred at about 800 feet above the landing zone, causing an entanglement that prevented her emergency parachute from inflating.
  • Black performed a cutaway of her main canopy and then tried to deploy her reserve chute but did not have sufficient altitude for it to open.
  • The other skydiver involved landed safely and is fully cooperating with local investigators.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration has joined the Upson County investigation, following two other deaths at the same facility in 2020.
