EXIM Upsizes Graphite One Financing Interest to $2.07 Billion for U.S. Graphite Supply Chain

Any EXIM commitment would follow a 2026 application process with full due diligence.

Overview

  • EXIM lifted its non-binding interest for the Ohio anode materials complex to $1.4 billion with a 15-year tenor and increased the Alaska Graphite Creek LoI to $670 million.
  • Graphite One will file formal applications in 2026, after which EXIM will conduct eligibility, credit and underwriting reviews before any decision.
  • The company says the EXIM package could finance about 70% of total project costs, with discussions underway to raise the remaining share through major investment banks and U.S. agencies.
  • Plans for the Weathersfield Township site call for a 220-acre complex with roughly 88 buildings and phased output rising in 25,000-ton increments to 100,000 metric tons of anode active material a year.
  • The potential financing falls under EXIM’s Make More in America and CTEP programs, reflecting U.S. reliance on imported natural graphite and possible Section 402 consideration.
