Ex-White Mountain Apache Officer Arrested on 15-Count Federal Sexual Abuse and Kidnapping Indictment

The FBI is seeking additional victims in a federal case now headed for prosecution.

  • Karl Eugene Leslie, 42, was taken into custody on Jan. 7 after a Dec. 23 federal indictment.
  • Prosecutors allege he targeted three members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation between Dec. 1, 2020 and Sept. 25, 2023 while serving as an officer.
  • The indictment says he forcibly raped and kidnapped two victims, including a minor, and twice committed sexual acts with a third by threatening her and placing her in fear.
  • Counts include aggravated sexual abuse, kidnapping, sexual abuse through fear and coercion, and deprivation of rights under color of law.
