Overview

• Syed Shahreear Ahmed, 37, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court to 15 years in prison with a further five years on licence and lifetime placement on the sex offenders register.
• Prosecutors said he masqueraded online as a 16–17-year-old to groom girls aged 13 to 15, arranging meetings where he raped and sexually assaulted victims between 2019 and 2023.
• The case shifted to a Metropolitan Police lead after Kent Police arrested Ahmed on 3 May 2023, triggering a cross-force investigation with Cambridgeshire, Thames Valley, Essex and Hertfordshire.
