Ex-RAF Member Daniela Klette Faces Trial for Armed Robberies

The 66-year-old is accused of 13 robberies and attempted murder, with proceedings set to begin on March 25 in Celle under high security.

Daniela Klette, a former member of the Red Army Faction (RAF), is charged with 13 armed robberies, attempted murder, and illegal weapons possession.
The alleged crimes, committed between 1999 and 2016, include robberies targeting cash transporters and supermarket offices, netting approximately €2.7 million.
Klette was arrested in February 2024 in Berlin, where she had been living under a false identity; her two alleged accomplices, Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, remain at large.
The trial will begin at the Oberlandesgericht Celle due to logistical constraints and the need for heightened security, with later sessions planned in Verden.
Investigators emphasize that the robberies lack a terrorist motive, though Klette is separately under investigation for alleged involvement in RAF-linked attacks in the early 1990s.
