Ex-Proud Boys Leader Enrique Tarrio Arrested for Assault Near U.S. Capitol

Enrique Tarrio, former Proud Boys leader, was arrested for simple assault after striking a counter-protester’s phone and arm near the U.S. Capitol.
The incident occurred shortly after a press conference where Tarrio and other pardoned Jan. 6 defendants announced plans to sue the Department of Justice.
Tarrio had been serving a 22-year sentence for seditious conspiracy related to the Jan. 6 Capitol attack before his sentence was commuted by President Trump last month.
Capitol Police stated that officers witnessed the altercation and detained Tarrio after the protester decided to file a complaint.
The press conference featured other high-profile figures like Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and included claims of government misconduct and plans to fund lawsuits through cryptocurrency.
