Ex-Northamptonshire Chief Constable Nick Adderley Charged With Fraud and Misconduct in Public Office

The CPS says an IOPC probe produced sufficient evidence to bring the case.

Overview

  • Prosecutors announced the charges on October 21, with Nick Adderley, 59, due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 10, 2025.
  • The case centers on allegations that from 2018 to 2024 he falsely presented naval rank and Falklands War service on his CV and 2018 chief constable application.
  • The IOPC says he is accused of claiming entitlement to service medals, including a South Atlantic Medal that a Ministry of Defence expert told a tribunal was fake.
  • Adderley was dismissed without notice in 2024 after a misconduct hearing and placed on the police barred list.
  • The CPS said the evidential and public interest tests are met, and if convicted of fraud he could face up to 10 years in prison and risk losing his police pension.
